What is Network Optimisation?
Organisations today rely heavily upon their network infrastructure to deliver business service and information to their customers, to their business partners and to their staff. Any degradation or interruption in service can impact business productivity and consequently the bottom line. An easily accessible, high performance and robust network is essential to an organisation's business, and managing any size network can be a particular challenge if there is inadequate visibility of the traffic pattern, of the business application, and of the end users. One of the most common issues faced by many organisations is the inability to identify congestion and provide the required levels of priority or Quality-of-Service (QoS) to the most business-critical applications.
Network Optimization encompasses several different offerings from BT. The main goal from a customer point of view is to ensure that their business critical applications are performing correctly and delivering their content as quickly as possible ahead of less critical traffic but at the same time allowing the customer full visibility of all the traffic on the network

Applications Assured Infrastructure
BT's Applications Assured Infrastructure is a range of packaged services that helps you to:

Maximising performance
AAI includes five modules, available as a repeatable, standardised set of managed services.
Monitor
Continuous monitoring of your applications, server performance and end-user experience is graphically represented on our unique online dashboard.
Manage
An enhancement to the Monitor service, Manage provides an incident investigation service that reactively or proactively investigates performance incidents, analyses their cause, and recommends corrective action.
Assure
AAI Assure is a service level agreement that BT has developed which gives you the benefit of ensuring your organisation's business critical applications will perform in the way you expect them to. Assured application performance is only available on infrastructures provided and managed by BT.
Audit
We offer a range of five audits that can be implemented on any business connectivity infrastructure, including IP, frame or other networking technologies.
Applications Landscape is conducted over one day and provides you with a snapshot of your applications performance.
Application Troubleshoot is for specific application performance problems.
Applications Audit is a comprehensive assessment of your applications. It lasts for four weeks and provides you with a detailed analysis of which applications are in use, how they are performing, who is using them, where they are located, and identifies hotspots.
Application Profiling helps you understand the design requirements of your infrastructure before a new application is deployed.
Application Impact helps you to assess the impact that a new application will have when deployed on your infrastructure alongside your existing applications.
Optimise
In Optimise we use the information we gather from AAI Audit, Monitor or Manage to advise customers on how to achieve better performance by suggesting ways to optimise elements across the infrastructure.

Independent Consultancy
BT can look at each customer's circumstances individually and is in an excellent position to advise of the best solutions. BT deploys Best-in-Breed appliances such as Cisco, Riverbed, BlueCoat (including Packeteer) and Ipanema, and some of these are supplied as part of a managed service, thus relieving the customer of the many burdens associated with achieving and maintaining optimum Business Application Performance.
